They are effectively throwing their hands up in defeat and expecting us to just ‘deal with it’. But even what I was told is not correct…the masks don’t ALWAYS contain the adjustments…many times the mask seems to be there, but NO adjustment shows on the layer. And there is no way to edit or re-draw the mask, as they suggest, because the mask has been ‘flattened’ into the variant. The ONLY option is to RESET all adjustments, then reprocess the file by adding EVERYTHING back into it!!! And believe me, if you’ve spent as much time as it takes to carefully draw and edit adjustment layers as I have and they get irreparably corrupted, when some software designer tells you it’s ‘No Problem’, you truly want pick up the closet heavy object and beat him about his head…

Capture One 21 is compatible with the earlier 7.x, 8.x, 9.x, 10.x, 11.x, 12.x versions. It is recommended to migrate images from 4.x, 5.x., and 6.x to version 8.x before opening them in 21. It is generally recommended that you only install one version of Capture One on any single computer. A single-user license allows up to 2 activations on computers that you own or of which you are the principal user. The license can be used with both Windows and Mac platforms. Multi-user licenses are also available from the Capture One web shop or from your retailer. Please read the release notes carefully before you install Capture One.

Basic Color Editor

The new Basic Color Editor has been redesigned to be more compact – and yet, more powerful. You now get eight color ranges instead of six – and flexible ways to adjust them.

You can edit colors with simple sliders or click anywhere on your image and drag to adjust any color. Using the new cursor tool, Direct Color Editor, you can drag across your images in different directions to change the sliders.

If you need to change the ranges, the spectrum is available from the (…) button. Any changes made to the spectrum will reflect in the color patches and the gradients on the sliders.

The new Basic Color Editor also works on Layers, making your layer editing simpler.

Для наглядности я буду просто обесцвечивать разные области кадра. Так удобнее показать возможности выбора цвета, но во время «настоящей» обработки вы можете увеличить их насыщенность, изменить яркость или окрасить в другой оттенок.

Итак, для начала выберем синий цвет и соседние с ним оттенки, чтобы обесцветить небо в кадре.

Как видите, это очень просто. А теперь выделим цвета лужайки:

Если вам нужно быстро обработать определённые цвета в кадре, Basic — очень удобный инструмент.

Но для более серьезной работы с цветом в Color Editor лучшие использовать режим Advanced

Advanced

У Advanced есть два преимущества:

Но если нам нужно изменить цвет только одного элемента одежды — например, майки?

Выделить майку так, чтобы больше никакие цвета не изменились — не получится. Просто потому, что джинсы детей так же «окрашены» в синий цвет и его оттенки.

Такую задачу очень просто решить, используя Advanced режим с инструментом Local Adjustments.

Advanced и Local Adjustments

Открываем Local Adjustments и создаем новый слой, назовем его «Майка Владика»:

Теперь все изменения цвета будут происходить только с этим выделенным участком фотографии.

Заходим в Advanced режим Color Editor’а, выделяем цвета майки и полностью обесцвечиваем их.

Весь кадр остался неизменным и только майка поменяла свой цвет:

Сочетание инструментов Advanced и Local Adjustments открывает огромные возможности для обработки RAW: вы можете изменить цвет любого участка кадра прямо в RAW-конвертере.

Skin Tone

Skin Tone — интересная функция, предназначенная для выравнивания тона кожи.

Но это уже серьезный, профессиональный инструмент, о котором рассказать в обзорной статье не получится.

Local Adjustments, Curves, Color Editor и прочие отличные функции обработки — это лишь часть возможностей по работе с RAW в Capture One.

• Using a non-US laptop keyboard might be preferable to change some of the standard keyboard shortcuts.
• Editing images in external applications other than Adobe Photoshop might result in unexpected behavior.
• Operation under virtualization software (e.g. Parallels, Hackintosh, etc) may cause instability. We do not recommend you use these OS configurations.

Mac users

Live View over USB can stall without the use of a repeater.

Windows users

• Windows drivers are required for some older models of Canon DSLR cameras to be able to shoot tethered. These drivers are available from Canon’s web site.
• Importing a catalog can result in the last picture not getting imported.
• Operation under RAMDisk by Dataram is known to cause issues with disk labeling. Capture One is not supported with this configuration.
• If you have Bonjour 2.0.3 installed, you may experience problems with Capture Pilot. Bonjour 2.0.2 (shipping with Capture One 9) and 2.0.4 (shipped with iTunes) have been tested to work with Capture Pilot. To check the version number of Bonjour, go to ‘Control Panel’ and select ‘Programs and Features’.
• TV/Raptr/RivaTuner installed along with some AMD devices can cause instability.
• FireWire tethering is not supported for Windows 10 build 1903 and newer

Feature walk-through

Magic Brush The new Magic Brush makes brushing areas of similar color fast and simple. Simply draw a line or a doodle on the area you wish the mask to cover and Capture One will fill the area automatically.

The Magic Brush can be found in the Layers Tool or in the Cursor Tools menu. By default, the Magic Brush shares the same keyboard shortcut as the Adjustment Brush, B. To toggle between the brushes, hold down Shift while pressing B.

When applying brush strokes with the Magic Brush on an image, Capture One will automatically find and fill the area of similar pixels. This enables a fast way of masking areas and objects of similar color, including greyscale. The Magic Brush works additively, allowing you to continue making brush strokes on the same Layer to create the mask you need.

Access the settings of the Magic Brush by right-clicking with the brush on your image. The following parameters are available:

Size determines the size of the brush.

Opacity determines the opacity of the mask created by the Magic Brush.

Tolerance determines the range of colors the mask will cover. A low Tolerance value will restrict the mask to similar colors, while a high Tolerance value will pick up a wider range of colors when creating the mask.

Refine Edge determines how the edge of the created mask will blend in with the surroundings. A low value will result in a hard, defined edge, while a higher value will create a mask with a softer, more content-aware edge.

Sample Entire Photo determines if the mask will be restricted by edges. If enabled, the mask will cover all areas of the color that is being brushed on, regardless of whether the areas are connected (continuous) or not.

Redesigned Exporter with Proofing Viewer The redesigned Exporter gathers all options for exporting photos from Capture One. It simplifies the export workflow without removing flexibility and adds new functionality including a powerful proofing viewer that shows you exactly how your exported image will look before you export. 

Output Tool Tab removedThe Output Tool Tab has been removed and all its content has been moved into the new Exporter. This Exporter is accessible from the Export icon in the main tool bar, or by right-clicking the selected image(s) and clicking ‘Export > Export…’. 

Batch Queue removed The Batch Queue and Process History has been removed.

Sub Name and Job Name removed The tokens ‘Sub Name’ and ‘Job Name’ have been removed, as export location and naming are now recipe specific.
